The boys from Transit are at it again, these Pop-Punk rockers from the North east are on currently on tour debuting their newest record entitled Listen and Forgive on Rise Records, scheduled to drop on 10/4. Filled with catchy riffs and anthem like choruses that are reminiscent of Saves the Day or the Yellow Card, Transit picks up where they left off on their last studio album which is in exactly the same place. If you liked their previous album well then you will probably enjoy this one as well, however if your looking for a Transit album that is going to redefine them as a band or show their versatility this is not it. Listen and Forgive is well, fairly predictable. Transit is clearly a group amazing musicians but the fact remains when your listening to punk rock music or pop-punk music you have to ask your self. If The Ramones, The Misfits or NOFX heard Transit would they greet them with open arms welcoming them to the punk rock community and endowing them with the torch to keep the flame burning? Or would them tell them to get lost?… I’m leaning towards the getting lost part.
Musically the album is well put together, it sounds good, the vocals sound good, the drums sound good, the guitar sounds good even the bass sounds good everything on Listen and Forgive sounds good. However, it lacks that a quality that defines punk music, danger. There is nothing on the album that wants me to get up and fight for something, change something, speak out against something. There is nothing musically that is challenging or untouched. I feel like Punk music or Pop-punk music or what ever you want to call it should to take the listener to some unfamiliar territory at some point, expose the audience to something never before seen or felt Listen and Forgive comes up short in this department. Over your head and Cutting Corners clearly show that Transit is capable and talented bunch of song writers, but where is the fire, the grit, the battles won or lost?
Ironically the title of the album seems to be a self fulfilling prophecy Listen and Forgive
